As a type AII a comprehensive two vehicles type biaxial will sidecar of the streetcar Timisoara in Romania called. The standard-gauge wagons with wooden superstructures were built by the local transport company, then called Tramvaiele Comunale Timișoara (TCT).

history

As early as 1919 and 1920, twelve of the total of 17 - at that time already heavily worn - first railcars from 1899 , which originally came from the János Weitzer wagon factory , were converted into sidecars and finally designated as Type A from 1922 . In 1921, the TCT then demotorized railcars 7 and 13. In contrast to the previously demotorized railcars, these two were completely reconstructed and therefore run as Type AII from 1922. After the sidecars 01 to 03 from the time of the First World War , the series dealt with here was the second type of sidecar that was built by the Timișoara tram. Instead of completely reconstructing other Weitzer railcars, the company decided to build the 14 type C sidecars from 1922 onwards - which in turn were replicas of the original vehicles from 1899. The two AII sidecars were used with almost all two-axle railcar types, i.e. with the series B (from the beginning), D (from the beginning), DII (from 1922), F (from 1925), FII (from 1927) ) and pioneer (from 1958).

Renumbering

While all non-reconstructed type A sidecars were taken out of service by 1928, the two vehicles discussed here were in use for a significantly longer period. In the course of the systematic renumbering campaign in spring 1964, they were assigned the new numbers 1 (formerly 7) and 2 (formerly 13) - as the oldest cars in the inventory. At that time, the two trailers, together with the last C-cars that had not yet been converted, only ran on Line 7. This was operated in one-way traffic from 1958 when it was converted to ring traffic - initially referred to as Line 5, with the sidecar on both sides Retained entrances. Like the C cars, the two AII cars were also designated as type R.2 from 1964 onwards.

In 1966 the tram company finally formed four firmly coupled three-car trains for line 4 to the Mehala . In two of them, the two AII car served as Mittelbeiwagen , while the last two C-cars were used for the other two then still existing. Car 1 ran from then on between FII car 105 and F car 106, car 2 between F car 101 and 102.

Retirement

When the trolleybus line 3 was finally extended on March 11, 1970 beyond the Bulevardul Cetății to the Piața Avram Iancu, the transport company temporarily stopped tram line 4 due to a lack of cars. While the two twin railcars 101-102 and 105-106 were used on other lines without an intermediate car, the two AII cars were decommissioned. At that time they were the last sidecars with a wooden structure and also the last cars with open platforms. Neither car 1 nor car 2 remained.
