The Timișoara tram's snow plow is a work vehicle built in 1925 for the aforementioned tram company . The two-axle railcar with a wooden superstructure is 7,640 millimeters long, and the motor output of the standard-gauge, bidirectional vehicle is 36 kilowatts. The platforms are completely closed and access is only possible via the double sliding doors on both sides . As the oldest motor vehicle of the Timișoara tram that has been preserved in its original condition, it is considered a movable cultural asset and is included in the relevant list as a national cultural heritage.

history

The snow plow was built by the tram company called Tramvaiele Comunale Timișoara (TCT) at the time . Its electrical equipment he received it from a hand of the 14 1919-1921 to sidecar converted Weitzer railcar and onwards 1899. Structurally there is a close relationship to the concurrently produced motor car of the type F . In addition to its seasonal use as a snow plow ( Romanian Vagon cu plug de zăpadă ), the vehicle was primarily used as a freight railcar for internal transport. Initially, the electricity was drawn using a hoop pantograph , but it was only in the course of the modernization program from 1956 to 1960 that the car received its current pantograph . In addition, it was originally painted dark green; the vehicle did not get its current yellow and white paintwork until the first half of the 1970s.

The snow plow originally had no company number. It was not until the second half of the 1960s that it was assigned company number 1. From 1972, the tram company finally referred to the vehicle as VS1. The abbreviation VS was also introduced for all other motorized work cars and stood for vagon de serviciu , that is, company car. It served to distinguish it from the then newly delivered Timiș 2 sidecars, the first representatives of which were put into service in 1972 with the numbers 1, 2 and 3.

On the occasion of a repainting for the 125th anniversary of the Timișoara tram in the summer of 1994, the snow plow lost the designation VS1 and has no longer had an operating number. It is now considered a museum vehicle and as such is in the care of the Banat tram club - TCB The snow plow is usually parked on the site of the tram depot on Bulevardul Take Ionescu, which is no longer in use.

In 1996, on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Oradea tram , the railcar was loaned to where it took part, among other things, in a car parade.
