The grinding cars of the Bucharest tram were a series of four rail grinding cars - Romanian vagon de polizat şina - of the aforementioned tram company .

history

The bidirectional vehicles in the form of two-axle electric locomotives with a central driver's cab were created in 1960 in the main workshop of the then Întreprinderea de Transport București ( ITB ) called Bucharest Transport Company and were given the company numbers 1-4. The 6400 millimeter long and 2150 millimeter wide work cars were part of the modernization program for passenger cars with wooden bodies , so their construction was also based on old chassis from the 1920s. The electrical equipment of the Compagnie Française Thomson-Houston could continue to be used, but the grinding locomotives received modern pantographs .

As early as 1965, Bucharest handed over grinding car number 4 to the Timișoara tram , where it was initially able to keep its company number - which happened to be unoccupied at the time. As early as 1968, however, he lost it to the former work car 37 and from then on was in use without a number. In 2002, the then transport company Regia Autonomă de Transport Timișoara (RATT) put it out of service, and the following year it was replaced by a used Schörling grinding car acquired from Wiener Linien . Since then, the grinding locomotive has been considered a historic vehicle and as such is in the care of the Banat tram club - TCB The grinding car is usually parked on the site of the tram depot on Bulevardul Take Ionescu, which is no longer used.

The three grinding cars that remained in the capital, however, were replaced over the years by more modern work cars and converted into snow blowers . They are known locally as Vagon Tramvai Turbofreza ( VTT ) - Romanian for turbo milling trams - and are each assigned to a different depot:

  • 01: Alexandria Depot
  • 02: Titan depot
  • 03: Militari Depot

The milling device is mounted on only one side of the car so that the car de facto only way vehicles can be used.
