Lonely the Brave is a rock band from Cambridge , United Kingdom , formed in 2013 .
history
The four-piece band, which was founded in Cambridge in 2013 , consists of singer David Jakes, guitarist Mark Trotter, bassist Andrew Bushen and drummer Gavin Edgeley. The group was able to book an appearance at the download festival in the year it was founded . A tour with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club followed in August 2013 . The band played their first concert abroad on September 6, 2013 in Paris , France as the opening act for the Deftones . The EP Backroads was released on October 7, 2013 via the London label Hassle Records . On November 16, 2013, the group played as part of the Warped Tour at Alexandra Palace in London. In January and February 2014, the group headlined the UK for the first time shortly after opening for Don Broco .
In mid-2014 she performed at several major music festivals in Europe , including Pukkelpop , Rock am Ring and Rock im Park , as well as at the Reading and Leeds Festivals . On September 1, 2014, the debut album The Day's War was released , which one week later entered the British album charts at number 14 . Between December 14 and 20, 2014, the band will play seven concerts in the UK as main support for Deaf Havana .
style
In an article in the Daily Telegraph , the group's music is described as rock music, dominated by the playing of the guitars and the profound lyrics. Groups such as Pearl Jam or The National are named as musical influences , although the individual musicians can be assigned to the most diverse musical spectrums. Sebastian Berning, a reviewer at Powermetal.de , also mentions Biffy Clyro , Twin Atlantic and Funeral for a Friend as further musical influences. Thomas Eberhardt from Ox-Fanzine describes the music as Britpop .
Dom Lawson from the Guardian describes the group's music as a mix of shoegaze and post-hardcore , capable of filling entire stadiums. The vocals of David Jakes is with Chris Martin of Coldplay and Bono of U2 compared.
