The gmina wiejska Lubań [ ˈlubaɲ ] is an independent rural community in Poland in the powiat Lubań in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship . Its seat is in the city of Lubań ( German Lauban ). The rural community, to which the city of Lubań itself does not belong, has an area of ​​142.3 km², on which (as of June 30, 2019) 6601 people live. The municipality is part of the Neisse Euroregion .

The rural community is located in Upper Lusatia on the northern foothills of the Jizera Mountains foothills ( Pogórze Izerskie ) on the left bank of the Queis ( Kwisa ) in Lower Silesia , twenty kilometers east of the city of Görlitz , on the northern foothills of the Jizera Mountains foothills ( Pogórze Izerskie ). Its territory surrounds the city of Lubań in the north, east and south.

From 1975 to 1998 the rural community belonged to the Jelenia Góra Voivodeship .
