Lucio Sanseverino (* 1565 in Naples , † December 25, 1623 in Salerno ) was an Italian cardinal and archbishop of Salerno .

Life

He came from the line of the Princes of Bisignano of the southern Italian noble family Sanseverino and was the second of seven children of the Count of Saponara , Giovanni Giacomo Sanseverino, and his wife Cornelia Pignatelli. Under the pontificate of Gregory XIII. Lucio Sanseverino was trainee lawyer at the courts of the Apostolic Signature .

On December 2, 1592 he was on the proposal of King Philip III. who held the regio padronato over the diocese, was appointed Archbishop of Rossano , although he had not yet reached canonical age . He was ordained bishop on December 2, 1592 in the Roman church of Santa Maria Vallicella by Cardinal Alessandro de 'Medici , the Archbishop of Florence .
