The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Salerno-Campagna- Acerno ( lat. : Archidioecesis Salernitana-Campaniensis-Acernensis , ital. : Arcidiocesi di Salerno-Campagna-Acerno ) is in Italy situated Roman Catholic archdiocese , based in Salerno .
history
The diocese of Salerno was established in the 6th century . In 983 the same was raised to an archbishopric. On July 20, 1098 gave Pope Urban II. With the privilege Singular semper the Archbishop Alfanus II. Salerno the primacy over the archbishops of Acerenza and Conza and its suffragan.
The Archdiocese of Salerno was incorporated into the diocese of Acerno on June 27, 1818 by Pope Pius VII with the Apostolic Constitution De utiliori . On September 30, 1986, the Archdiocese of Salerno-Acerno was annexed to the diocese of Campagna by the Congregation for the Bishops with the decree Instantibus votis .
