Lucky Luke , also known as Lucky Luke - The Lonely Cowboy , is a real-life film adaptation of the well-known Morris comic series of the same name . Directed by James Huth , in the lead role played Jean Dujardin . The exterior shots of the 27 million euro production were shot over four months in Argentina. The German-language premiere was on DVD at the end of October 2010.
action
The lonely cowboy Lucky Luke, who moves faster than his shadow, is commissioned by the American President himself to restore law and order in the small town of Daisy Town, which is an attraction for many people due to its location on the railway line. After an initial argument that resulted in death for his opponent, he developed scruples, but with the help of two women and his talking horse Jolly Jumper he was able to fulfill his mission. Throughout the story, he encounters Jesse James, Calamity Jane, Belle Starr and Billy the Kid.
criticism
While the Cahiers du cinéma did not review the film, Positif asked whether adult viewers should be quicker than their shadow. The very lengthy script is content with stringing together stereotypical situations that serve as a pretext for grimaces in overly clear postures, and the images plagiarized the song of death and other western classics. According to Les Echos , the script doesn't get off the ground; the weakness of the film lies in the persistent impression of déjà vu. Only the actors saved the project from complete ruin. In L'Express it was said that the film did not know which genre to devote itself to and that it did not have a script worthy of the name. After all, he has successful decorations, rich pictures, a few punch lines and a believable Dujardin. Le Point missed the "stupid forces" of the comic series, namely the Daltons and Rantanplan. France does not have the western in its genes, so that only the possibility of parody remains, which is so far successful; unfortunately the spirit of the serious sometimes mixes with it. The narrative doesn't decide between spaghetti westerns and a broken hero. The line-up of the characters Billy the Kid, Calamity Jane, Jesse James and Pat Poker make them a lumber room, and they shoot in all directions. Despite good intentions, the film creates confusion.
The lexicon of international films praised the fact that “the boundaries between fast-paced genre film and pop-theoretical parody are shifting in a playful way.” Kino.de described Lucky Luke as “walking a tightrope between respectful parody, unleashed slapstick, surreal peyote trip and homage to the classic Spaghetti Western . ” Cinema saw a“ [famous] parody of the Pistolero genre ”. The film is "[a] louder than the comics, but optically great" and also comes up with "good actors".
