Ludlow is a village in the town of Ludlow in Windsor County , Vermont , United States with a population of 811 (2010 census). Ludlow is centrally located in the town of Ludlow and is traversed by the Black River in an easterly direction.
history
The town of Ludlow, in which the Village Ludlow is centrally located on the banks of the Black River, was put up for sale by Benning Wentworth as part of his New Hampshire Grants on September 16, 1761. Settlement began along the river bank in 1784.
In 1835 the Black River Academy was founded; a grammar school that spawned a number of later famous personalities. The building now serves as a museum.
The Village Ludlow was granted independent rights in 1867.
The Ludlow Village Historic District has been listed on the National Register Historic Districts since 2007 . The Black River Academy had already been listed in 1972 , the Ludlow Graded School in 1979 and the Congregational Church of Ludlow in 2004 .

The Vermont State Route 103 runs initially in a southerly direction to the center of the Village, then east parallel of the Black River . Coming from the south, Vermont State Route 100 joins Route 103.
