Petuel
Petuel is the name of a family of important business people and social supporters from the north of Munich . Ludwig Petuel jun. was the son of Ludwig Petuel sen. and married to Karolina Petuel .
Thomas Petuel
Thomas Petuel (* October 23, 1797 ; † September 11, 1847 ), son of an innkeeper from Sendling , was the owner of the Hacklbräu in Freising . He was married to Rosina Petuel (née Sporrer) from the family of the owners of what is now the Bayerischer Hof . Like all Freising brewers, he owned land in the moss south of Freising for peat extraction (fuel for the brewhouses). The former prince-bishop Schwaige Attaching was in his possession . He began developing what is now the Lerchenfeld district , where he began to create and sell settlement land. In Freising, Petuelstrasse in Lerchenfeld has been named after Thomas Petuel since 1933.
Ludwig Petuel Sr.
Ludwig Petuel Sr. (Born August 19, 1839 in Freising ; † 1911 ) was initially a businessman in Freising. In 1868 he moved to Milbertshofen and bought a beer brewery and schnapps distillery there and called it Salvator brewery . In 1877 he built the "Schwabinger Brewery" on what is now Münchner Freiheit . Through his further business activities in other industries, he earned a fortune and invested it in the purchase, development and development of local properties. From 1870 to 1875 he was mayor of the village. From 1898 he operated one of the first bus routes in Germany in Milbertshofen . He is an honorary citizen of Milbertshofen.
Ludwig Petuel jun.
Ludwig Petuel jun. (* January 3, 1870 ; † October 12, 1951 ) already had an influence on the family's business activities during his father's lifetime and thus also on important decisions for Milbertshofen . He made his land available for the construction of important facilities. He also showed commitment in promoting sport: In 1906 a bicycle stadium was built on one of his properties ; Squidward Robl celebrated his last successes there. However, as early as 1917, a military facility was built on the site of the city of Munich, into which Milbertshofen was now incorporated.
Karolina Petuel
Karolina "Lina" Petuel, b. Meitinger (* August 20, 1873 ; † September 3, 1956 ) founded the Ludwig and Lina Petuel Foundation by will, which, under the administration of the Munich Social Department, supports disabled and old citizens of the city.
Trivia
The grave of the Petuel family is in Munich's northern cemetery , the Meitinger family's grave in the eastern cemetery . Both graves are borne by the Ludwig and Lina Petuel Foundation.
According to Ludwig Petuel sen. and jun. is the name of the street Petuelring in Munich . Petuel senior built the path that used to be in its place. to a paved road that was later named Petuelstrasse after him.
