Ludwig Vogel (born November 13, 1920 in Petersberg , Fulda ; † July 5, 2014 there ) was a Roman Catholic priest .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1940, Ludwig Vogel began studying philosophy and Catholic theology in Fulda, but was obliged to serve in the Wehrmacht shortly afterwards . After being released from American captivity , he continued his studies in Fulda. On July 23, 1950 by the Bishop of Fulda received Johann Baptist Dietz the priesthood . Vogel was initially a chaplain in Anzefahr in Central Hesse , later in Bad Hersfeld , Eschwege and Marburg .

In 1958 he became parish curate, from 1965 pastor in Borken in northern Hesse . In 1966 he was appointed dean of the Fritzlar deanery and on August 1, 1968, he was appointed parish priest of Fritzlar . It is thanks to Vogel that the Fritzlar Cathedral has been extensively renovated. As museum director , on the occasion of the 1250th anniversary of the city of Fritzlar in 1974, he made the cathedral treasure and the cathedral library accessible to the public. As a Catholic city pastor, he was ex officio chairman of the board of trustees “Hospital zum Heiligen Geist”, the hospital in Fritzlar, which emerged from a medieval foundation, and chairman of the so-called poor commission, d. From 1979 to 1985 he was also the deputy regional dean of the Kassel region. In 1991 he retired.

He was head of the Fátima World Apostolate in Germany, an association under papal law, and editor of the magazine "Fátima World Apostolate". From 1997 he headed the headquarters of the Fatima World Apostolate at Petersberg in Fulda.

Ludwig Vogel was a member of the Forum of German Catholics . He organized numerous pilgrimages to Rome , Fátima , Lourdes , Medjugorje and above all to the Holy Land . Vogel was the diocesan director of the German Association of the Holy Land from 1978 to 2002 .

In 1985 Ludwig Vogel was appointed Knight of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Maximilien Cardinal de Fuerstenberg and invested in the Regensburg Cathedral on May 11, 1985 by Franz Hengsbach , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy . He was last Commander of the Order.

Ludwig Vogel died on July 5, 2014 in Petersberg near Fulda and was buried on July 11 in the local cemetery.
