Karl Friedrich Heinrich Ludwig von Corvin-Wiersbitzky (born June 26, 1789 in Tangermünde , † May 1, 1872 in Berlin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

Ludwig was a son of the Prussian major general Gottlob Karl Ludwig von Corvin-Wiersbitzki and his second wife Johanna Charlotte Friederike, born von Krahn († October 12, 1834).

Military career

Corvin occurred on October 18, 1800, when Corporal Corporal in the Infantry Regiment "of Owstien" the Prussian army and advanced to early May 1804 Ensign . During the Fourth Coalition War he took part in the battle near Lübeck , became a prisoner of war and was made inactive.

After the Peace of Tilsit , Corvin came to the Colberg Infantry Regiment on November 30, 1808 as a second lieutenant with a patent from June 14, 1808 and was commanded for further training at the General War School in 1810/12 . He was once expelled from school for rawness in the theater, but reintroduced because of his skills. On June 14, 1813, he was promoted to lieutenant prime minister. During the Wars of Liberation he was wounded in the battle near Hoyerswerda . He also fought at Elster and Hoogstraeten, where he was wounded and awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class. Corvin took part in the battles at Courtray, Sweweghem and Oudenarde as well as the siege of Stettin. He was also at the battles of Großbeeren , Dennewitz and Leipzig , where he received the Order of St. Anna II. Class.

On January 20, 1814 he was promoted to staff captain and on October 14, 1814 transferred to the Emperor Franz Grenadier Regiment . There he became captain and company commander on April 19, 1815 . On February 25, 1818 Corvin rose to major with a patent from February 27, 1818 . On November 26, 1821 he was appointed battalion commander. In 1828 he was awarded the service cross and on June 10, 1828, he was aggregated to the 33rd Infantry Regiment . On March 30, 1832 he was assigned as a battalion commander. On March 30, 1836, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel with a patent from April 1, 1836. Corvin was commissioned on August 18, 1837 to lead the 27th Infantry Regiment and on May 19, 1838, after being promoted to colonel, he was appointed regimental commander. On April 7, 1842 he came as a commander in the 4th Landwehr Brigade, where he was aggregated to the 27th Infantry Regiment on April 30, 1842. On March 30, 1844, he was promoted to major general. On March 27, 1847, he came to the Küstrin fortress as commandant . On the occasion of his 50th anniversary in service, Corvin received the star for the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves. On October 18, 1850, he retired with the character of lieutenant general and pension .

On January 27, 1864, he became honorary senior of the Iron Cross, 2nd class, and died on May 1, 1872 in Berlin, where he was buried on May 4, 1872 in the new garrison cemetery in Hasenheide.

Corvin married Friederike Ernestine Charlotte von der Jahn (adopted Ida von Arnim from the Blankensee house) on September 28, 1818 in Blankensee (* March 8, 1800 † February 26, 1877).
