History and sights

In the 18th century the place can be found as Unter- and Oberloiben , later also Luiben . The name could be in Middle High German  loibe, louba n. ' Laub , Wald '.

In the 19th century, Oberloiben is also known as Strasser or Straßer . The two typical squares of the two localities (Gundersdorf 8 and 9 and 6 and 7 in Oberloiben) are still there today as they were 250 years ago.

A court chapel belongs to Hof Gundersdorf 8, Hieslmair vulgo Mair z'Luim . It is a small, one-room house, and was built around 1857, and renovated in 1984. The original statue of the Virgin Mary is not on display, the oil painting shows the 13th station of the Cross , the Lamentation of Christ .
