Luke Arron Cutts (born February 13, 1988 in Thurnscoe ) is a British pole vaulter .
Athletic career
Luke Cutts gained his first international experience at the Junior World Championships 2006 in Beijing , where he finished ninth with 5.30 m. In 2007 he did not succeed in qualifying at the European Junior Championships in Hengelo . In 2009 he won the silver medal behind the German Raphael Holzdeppe at the U23 European Championships in Kaunas with 5.60 m . In addition, he qualified for the first time for the World Championships in Berlin , where he was eliminated with 5.40 m in the qualification. At the Commonwealth Games 2010 in New Delhi , he failed to start a valid attempt for England .
In 2014 he finished eighth at the World Indoor Championships in Sopot with 5.65 m, won silver with 5.55 m at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow behind his compatriot Steven Lewis and failed at the European Championships in Zurich with 5.30 m in qualification. Two years later he took part again in the European Championships in Amsterdam , but did not qualify there again with 5.35 m for the final. This was followed by participation in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he was also eliminated from the qualification with 5.45 m . In 2018 he again took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast and won the bronze medal there with 5.45 m.
In 2009 and 2013, as well as in 2016 and 2017, he was British outdoor champion and between 2014 and 2017 indoor.
