geography

course

The stream rises as Gruenhaldenbach in a field at the Buechrüti farm in the municipality of Aesch . For the first 20 meters or so, until it reaches the forest, it is overturned. It now takes up its left branch and flows through the Gruenhaldentobel , initially in a north-westerly direction, then in a north-easterly direction. Here it forms the border between the two cantons for around 420 meters up to the confluence of the Geissweidbächlis from the left. The stream now crosses back into the Zurich area, where it is fed only a little later from the left of the Lochmattbächli . He now leaves the forest area, but is usually accompanied by a forest edge. Its most important tributary, the Höllbächli, flows to it near Vorderaltenberg . It now crosses under the A4 , once again flows through a forest and reaches Birmensdorf . Here it makes a sharp curve to the northwest and finally flows into the Reppisch parallel to the somewhat larger Wüeribach.

Catchment area

The catchment area of the Lunnerenbach measures 5.92 km². At the measuring point just before the mouth, the catchment area is 5.5 km², of which 2.8 km² is agricultural area, 2.3 km² is forest and 0.4 km² is settlement area. The highest point is 674  m above sea level. M. above Lieli, the lowest point is in front of the mouth in Birmensdorf at 460  m above sea level. M. , which corresponds to a difference of 214 meters. In the north lies the catchment area of the Malefizgraben and Tobelbach, in the east that of the Wüeribach and its tributary, the Aescherbach , which all also drain into the Reppisch. In the south is that of the Arnerbach and in the east that of its tributaries Erlihofbach and Widenbach, which drain into the Reuss , as well as that of the Rummelbach , which is a tributary of the Reppisch.
