history

In the past, there was a coal mine in the Cholgrueb forest , which is still named after it today , which was used in the 18th century. Today, however, everything has fallen apart and nothing can be seen anymore. According to a report by the Pyrotechnic Society in Zurich , this coal seam was 9 to 12 centimeters thick.

There is also an old legend about the Malefizgraben, according to which seven gentlemen owned a castle here and spent their time plundering the area around Rudolfstetten, Dietikon and Friedlisberg. One day, during a nocturnal thunderstorm, the lock broke into all its individual parts and the gentlemen no longer appeared in public from then on. It is said that at night you can see them counting money on the path by the Burgstall .
