M'Baye Babacar Niang (born December 19, 1994 in Meulan-en-Yvelines ) is a Senegalese - French football player . The offensive player is under contract with the French first division club Stade Rennes .

Beginnings in France

M'Baye Niang started playing football at the age of seven for the local club Basse-Seine Les Mureaux. There he played for two years and was observed and signed by the amateur club AS Poissy . After being scouted by SM Caen in 2007 and then invited to a trial training session in which he scored a hat trick, he entered the youth academy there at the age of 13. Two years later, at the age of 15, he was promoted to the U-19s and then to the club's first team reserve in 2010.

On February 18, 2011, he signed his first professional three-year contract with Caen. He made his Ligue 1 debut on April 24, 2011 against FC Toulouse . In the seven games he played during the 2010/11 season , the then 16-year-old scored three goals. The following season he scored two goals in 23 games.

Change to Milan and various rental stations

On August 28, 2012, Niang moved to AC Milan for a transfer of around three million euros . He made his debut just a few days later when he came on as a substitute in a 3-1 win at FC Bologna on September 1 of that year . After he had not played a lot in the following weeks, he managed to join the team after the winter break. So he missed only two games in the entire second half of the season. On February 20, 2013, he was used for the first time in the Champions League , in a 2-0 round of 16 victory against FC Barcelona .

On January 2, 2014 Niang was loaned to HSC Montpellier until the end of the season in Ligue 1 . At the end of January 2015, he moved to CFC Genoa on loan until the end of the 2014/15 season . A loan to Watford FC followed on January 26, 2017 . On February 4, 2017, the 2-1 win against Burnley FC , he first gave the template to 1-0 and then scored the 2-0.

Via Turin to Rennes

On August 31, 2017, Niang moved to Turin for a loan fee of two million euros, initially for a year on loan . Subsequently, FC Turin committed to acquire the transfer rights to Niang for 12 million euros. In summer 2018, on deadline day , Niang was awarded to Stade Rennes for the 2018/19 season. In May 2018 it was announced that Niang had signed a four-year deal and Stade Rennes had bought him for a € 15 million transfer.

National team

M'Baye Niang went through several French youth national teams. From 2009 to 2010 he played six times for the U16 and in 2010 eight times for the U17 . Then he ran for the French U21 . He scored one goal in three games.

On October 7, 2017, Niang made his debut in a 2-0 win against Cape Verde as part of the World Cup qualification for the Senegalese national team . He then made it into the Senegalese squad for the 2018 World Cup . In the opening game, the 2-1 against Poland , he scored the 2-0 and thus his first goal for the national team . He was then named Player of the Game . In the second group game, Niang provided the template for the 2-1 lead. Senegal was eliminated from the tournament in the group stage after fair play.

At the Africa Cup of Nations 2019 in Egypt , Niang is a regular in the Senegalese squad. With four points as second in the group behind Algeria, Senegal made it into the knockout round. In the round of 16 against Uganda, Niang gave the template for the 1-0 final score.
