geography

The place is on the eastern slope of the Manhartsberg on the Gscheinzbach . Retzer Straße leads through the village .

history

The place is mentioned for the first time in a document as a gift in connection with the foundation of Göttweig Abbey by Bishop Altmann von Passau . The place name Mulibach , handed down from the late 11th century, refers to a body of water on which there is a mill: Mühlbach. The stately Krotenmühle south of the village is now derelict.

The original Mühlbach fortress was destroyed in the 15th century. Today's Mühlbach Castle dates from the late Renaissance.

After the Mühlbach family died out as rulers , the lords of Walsee , the lords of Hofkirchen and finally the Counts of Gudenus owned the place.

After the reforms of 1848/1849 , Mühlbach constituted itself as an independent municipality in 1850 and was assigned to the Ravelsbach district until 1868 .
