Hohenwarth is a village and cadastral community of the market community Hohenwarth-Mühlbach on Manhartsberg in Lower Austria with 433 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).
geography
The place is located on a demolition of the Hohenwarther Platte , which also represents the basin of the Gießbach , at the intersection of Landesstrasse 43 and Landesstrasse 46. The highest point of the village is occupied by the Hohenwarth parish church .
history
The place was first mentioned in a document from 1060/70 in a Göttweiger tradition note. At that time, a fortification developed as a noble residence secured the Plecketen Weg , on which the Lords of Hohenwarth, a Bavarian aristocratic family who moved to Austria around the turn of the millennium, lived from the 12th to the 15th century. The Lower Austrian line of the sex can be traced back to the 17th century.
After the reforms of 1848/1849 , Hohenwarth was constituted as an independent municipality in 1850 and was under the Ravelsbach district until 1868 .
