MX vs. ATV Unleashed is a computer and video game released in 2005 and the first part of the MX vs. ATV from THQ's development studio , Rainbow Studios . In addition to a career mode ("Championships"), it includes a "Challenges" mode and an offline multiplayer mode with 2 players and an online multiplayer mode for a maximum of 8 players.

Championships

Supercross

In "Supercross" mode, you can either use motocross motorcycles (MX) or quads (ATV) in fictitious supercross arenas (e.g. " New Orleans ", " Las Vegas ") against up to 5 computer opponents compete. Each route is traveled between 2 and 4 times, depending on the position.

Nationals

In this mode, the same rules as in "Supercross" mode and with the same vehicles have to be used on different, longer routes. These routes are mostly on themed terrain (e.g. "Maple Hill" farm or desert). These very detailed designed areas can be explored freely in the "Free Ride" mode (see below).

Challenges

Various "Challenges" can be unlocked during each career. These usually have a more free reference to the topic of "Offroad" and offer variety. The challenges offered to the player during the career are selected at random. Examples of challenges are: B. Golf kart races on off-road routes or airplane races through set target points. If a challenge has been mastered, the means of transport used is available for the "Free Ride" mode.

Free ride

In the "Free Ride" mode, you can ride the individual routes for training without an opponent. It is up to the player himself which vehicle he wants to drive which train. The usual rule to be put back on the track after 4 seconds does not apply here, i. H. Abbreviations are also possible.

Other modes

In addition to the "main modes" mentioned above, there are other, smaller classes, including hill climbing , motorcycle short track and supermoto .

demo

A demo version was released before the game was released. With it, it is possible to drive the "Savannah" and "Maple Hill" routes with quads or motocross machines, both as a race and freely, as well as a monster truck challenge.

Map editor

The purchase version includes a map editor with which you can design different scenarios . It contains many ready-made 3D objects. In this way, a level can also be created with the help of little basic knowledge of level editing.

Nordic Games announced a new installment in the series under the name MX vs. ATV Supercross on. This part was published in October 2014.
