biography

Magdalena Kronschläger came into contact with acting at the age of 17 when she accompanied a classmate to a theater workshop. She was enthusiastic about the acting profession and gave her first public appearances in the musical Schattenwelt (event center Gunskirchen , 2001) and in the play Amnesty (dietheater Künstlerhaus in Vienna , 2003), a project by Amnesty International . From 2003 to 2006 Kronschläger studied at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna . As part of her training, she worked as Elisabeth in William Shakespeare's Richard III. (2005) and as Valery in Albert Ostermaier's Death Valley Junction (2006). For her performance in Philipp Hauß 'production of Elfriede Jelinek's Bambiland (2006), she and the rest of the acting ensemble won an award at the International Theater School Festival in Warsaw in 2007 and the Vontobel Prize at the theater meeting of German-speaking acting students. “The most exciting are those characters where you don't see at first glance what's behind it and only slowly the facade crumbles. I like those roles that scream for life, break through - or just can't break through for a certain reason, ”says Kronschläger.

After completing her acting training, Kronschläger made a guest appearance at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt in spring 2009 , when she embodied Eve as a sweet hippie girl in Stephanie Mohr's production of Der zerbrochne Krug . This was followed during the Summer Theater Haag 2010 in Hague the presentation of Brooke Ashton in Michael Frayn's The Rat Race next Gerti Drassl and Annette Frier . The part of an actress who tries to cover up her lack of talent by emphasizing her physical charms earned her praise from the critics. In the past, Kronschläger also worked for radio play productions and took part in readings.

Parallel to her theater work, Kronschläger began to appear in film and television from 2008. For example, she was cast for the Heimatfilm Bauernprinzessin III (2009) and was represented with small roles in two episodes of the German-Austrian crime series Tatort ( Kinderwunsch , 2009; Glaube, Liebe, Tod , 2010). Kronschläger became known to a larger Austrian audience through Sabine Derflinger's feature film Day and Night (2010). In the drama she can be seen together with Anna Rot as friends from Vienna who decide to work for an escort service . The part of Hanna brought Kronschläger a nomination as best actress for the Austrian Film Prize, which was awarded for the first time in 2011 .
