- German troops form a bridgehead over the Marne . American troops march in support of the French to be deployed at Château-Thierry and in the Belleau Forest .

- In a proclamation of the Armenian National Council , the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Armenia (retroactive to May 28th) is announced.
Friday May 31, 1918
- Pittsburgh : Czech and Slovak exile groups sign the Pittsburgh Agreement in the USA , according to which the common new state should consist of the old Bohemian countries and Slovakia. Slovakia should u. a. have an autonomous administration, their own parliament and their own judicial system.
