- Vienna : according to reports from Austrian diplomats, including the consul in Trabzon and Samsun , Dr. Kwatkiowski, this refers to six eastern provinces around Trabzon and Samsun, that most of the one million deportees died . From Adrianople ( Edirne ), Consul Dr. Nadamlenzki did the same for the entire Ottoman Empire, in which 1.5 million had already been deported. The Austrian vicemarashal Joseph Pomiankowski (head of the Austro-Hungarian military mission in Constantinople) estimated the losses among the Armenians at around one million people.
