The Marbeck is a 7.5 km long left or northern tributary of the Itter in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district in northern Hesse ( Germany ).

At the beginning of the 18th century, on behalf of the Landgraves of Hessen-Darmstadt on the Itter, Marbeck and Wennebach rivers, ultimately unproductive gold panning was operated.

course

The Marbeck rises in the eastern foothills of the Sauerland part of the Rhenish Slate Mountains . Its source is in the south- eastern part of the Diemelsee nature park, around 1 km west-north-west of the Lengefeld district of Korbach, in a forest area east of the Wipperberg ( 529.4  m above sea  level ) at around 470  m above sea level.

The Marbeck flows mainly to the southeast and runs a little below its origin south of the village of Lengefeld and north of the Eisenberg ( 562  m ) and leaves the nature park. From then on, the stream flows over the Waldecker Tafel and passes under the state roads  3083 (Lengefeld− Eppe ) and 3076 (Korbach− Nordenbeck ) as well as the district road  57, which connects the two roads .

Finally, the Marbeck flows into the Eder tributary Itter immediately above or to the west of the Vöhler Dorf Dorfitter at an altitude of about 335  m .
