Marek Mendyk (born March 18, 1961 in Głuszyca , Poland ) is a Polish Roman Catholic clergyman and appointed Bishop of Schweidnitz .

Life

Marek Mendyk occurred in 1981 in the seminary in Breslau and received in 1987 by Henryk Roman Cardinal Gulbinowicz in Wrocław Cathedral the sacrament of Holy Orders . He then became a chaplain in Dzierżoniów . After the establishment of the diocese of Liegnitz by the Apostolic Constitution Totus Tuus Poloniae Populus of March 25, 1992 he was incardinated in this .

1995 Mendyk at the Catholic University of Lublin to Dr. theol. PhD . The subject of his dissertation was: "Liturgical catechesis in the light of the post-conciliar documents of the Church" .

Since 1995 he has been head of the catechesis department in the Vicariate General of the Diocese of Legnica. From autumn 1999 to the end of August 2000, Mendyk worked on a one-year scholarship in the Eichstätt diocese . In addition to taking part in pastoral courses and scientific symposia, he was chaplain of the parish of St. Johannes in Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate . From 2001 to 2005 he was a lecturer at the seminary and from 2002 to 2006 director of the training center of the diocese.

On April 5, 2002, he was appointed chaplain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ) by Pope John Paul II and in 2004 he was appointed cathedral chapter of the Liegnitz cathedral chapter .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on 24 December 2008 to the titular of Rusuccuru and auxiliary bishop in Legnica . The Bishop of Liegnitz, Stefan Cichy , gave him his episcopal ordination on January 31, 2009 in the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul in Liegnitz ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Wroclaw, Marian Gołębiewski , and the Bishop of Grünberg-Landsberg , Stefan Regmunt . His motto is: In verbo tuo Domine (“On your word, Lord”), which comes from the Gospel of Luke ( Lk 5.5  EU ).

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Schweidnitz on March 31, 2020.
