Mario Caroli (* 1974 ) is an Italian flautist.

Career

Caroli studied flute with Annamaria Morini . The flautist Manuela Wiesler had a great influence on him . In 1996 he won the Kranichstein Music Prize of the International Summer Course for New Music in Darmstadt . The following year he completed his philosophy degree summa cum laude with a thesis on Nietzsche's The Antichrist .

The virtuoso soloist, whose repertoire ranges from classical flute literature to avant-garde works, has performed with important orchestras such as the London Philharmonia Orchestra , the WDR Orchestra in Cologne and the Italian Radio Symphony Orchestra under conductors such as Pierre Boulez , Péter Eötvös , Heinz Holliger and Emilio Pomàrico , Kazushi Ōno , Ilan Volkov and Oswald Sallaberger and worked a. a. with the Neue Vocalisten Stuttgart , Les Percussions de Strasbourg and the Schola Heidelberg .
