Mario Neuhäuser (born November 8, 1963 in Stollberg ) was a soccer player in the GDR Oberliga and the 2nd Bundesliga for FC Karl-Marx-Stadt / Chemnitzer FC . He played a game for the GDR national soccer team .
Player career
Neuhäuser began his football career in 1972 with the youngsters at BSG Stahl Lugau. His name in higher-class football is mainly associated with FC Karl-Marx-Stadt , to which he was delegated in 1977, or its successor club Chemnitzer FC. Already as a junior player he came to selection apprenticeships when he played in eleven games of the GDR junior national team . At the age of almost 18, the 1.75 m tall attacking player was used for the first time in the top division team of Karl-Marx-Städter. On June 4, 1983 he was in the final of the FDGB Cup , where he was called up as a left winger. Nothing came of the title win, however, as FCK lost 4-0 to 1. FC Magdeburg .
After six games in the U-21 national team as well as one qualifying and three friendly games in the Olympic team , Neuhäuser came on March 28, 1984 for a brief assignment in the senior national team . In the game between the GDR team against Czechoslovakia (2-1), he was substituted on for Matthias Döschner from Dresden in the 78th minute .
In the league , the midfielder made his debut in the 1981/82 season on October 31, 1981 a few days before his 18th birthday in a 3-0 home win in the district derby against the BSG Sachsenring Zwickau . The trained striker, who later moved into midfield in his career, scored his first goal in the upper house on the penultimate matchday of the following season when FCK played 3-2 at home against BSG Chemie Böhlen . In 1983/84 Neuhäuser scored seven goals for FCK in the Oberliga, making it the second best goalscorer behind Stefan Persigehl (9). In the 1985/86 season he suffered a very serious knee injury that did not allow competitive sports until 1989. The trade journal fuwo wrote about this after the game against FC Vorwärts Frankfurt / Oder on matchday two , which was his last in the upper house until February 1990: “Mario Neuhäuser had to retire from FCK midfield after just 17 minutes. An old injury that had put him out of action for six months the previous season broke open again; and that without any adverse influence. "
In the course of the possibility created in GDR football for the 1989/90 season to be able to be used in parallel with both a league and a league team , Neuhäuser also played a game for the CFC in the spring of 1990 after his recovery between a few appearances BSG Motor "Fritz Heckert" Karl-Marx-Stadt in the second highest division . In 1991 Neuhauser's home team, meanwhile converted from FC Karl-Marx-Stadt to Chemnitzer FC, qualified with a 5th place in the last GDR and NOFV championship for the 2nd Bundesliga . During Neuhauser's time, the FCK had always played in the GDR upper league, in which he had come to 85 missions (ten goals).
Chemnitzer FC was able to hold its own in the 2nd Bundesliga until 1996. In the first second division year Neuhäuser could only play in one point game, on the other hand he played 19 of the 46 second division games in the 1992/93 season. Meanwhile 30 years old, Neuhäuser did not play in the first team in the following seasons, but as an experienced leader of the Chemnitz amateur team he played 28 games (three goals) in the 1993/94 league season . In the 1995/96 season Neuhäuser was involved with 29 games (four goals) in the very good second place of the CFC amateurs in the South Season of the NOFV Oberliga. It was not until the first team of Chemnitzer FC was relegated to the Regionalliga in summer 1996 that he was used again in six games (one goal) in the 1996/97 season. One of his teammates at the time was, as in some amateur games, the young Michael Ballack .
Coaching career
From July 1, 1997 to September 20, 1998 Neuhäuser coached VfB Chemnitz in the southern season of the then fourth-class NOFV league . In 2001 his name reappeared in the regional media when Neuhäuser was mentioned as the coach of the district league club Krokusblüte Drebach.
