Mark Alt (born October 18, 1991 in Kansas City , Missouri ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Colorado Avalanche in the National Hockey League since February 2018 and for their farm team, the Colorado Eagles , in the American Hockey League is used. Before that, he spent nearly five years in the Philadelphia Flyers organization .

Career

Mark Alt was born in Kansas City when his father John Alt was there for the Kansas City Chiefs in the National Football League . He then grew up in Minnesota and was active there in his youth for the team of Cretin-Derham Hall High School in a regional high school league. He was also briefly represented in Team Northeast , a local selection team, before the Carolina Hurricanes considered him in the NHL Entry Draft 2010 in 53rd position. As a result, the defender enrolled at the University of Minnesota and ran from then on for their Golden Gophers in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA), a league in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). He was active at the university for three years and was elected twice to the WCHA All-Academic Team during this time .

In April 2013, Alt signed an entry-level contract with the Philadelphia Flyers , who received it from the Hurricanes along with Brian Boucher in January of the same year and sent Luke Pither to Carolina for it. The Flyers used the defender on their farm team , the Adirondack Phantoms , in the American Hockey League (AHL) before making his debut for Philadelphia in the National Hockey League (NHL) during the 2014-15 season . For the time being, after this one assignment, he returned to the new farm team, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms , before he got another season in the top division of North America during the 2017/18 season. After eight NHL games for the Flyers, he should be sent one more time to the AHL, but when he was signed by the waiver of the Colorado Avalanche .

Alt played seven games for the Avalanche by the end of the 2017/18 season and then signed a new two-year deal in Colorado. He then took over in the new farm team, the Colorado Eagles , the Office of the team captain .
