Martin Müller was born on May 27, 1915 in a rural family in Bürs. After attending primary and secondary school, Müller graduated from the Feldkirch teacher training institute in 1934 . Subsequently, after working for some time in his parents' farm, he became an elementary school teacher himself. In 1939 he was drafted for military service in the German Wehrmacht and was so badly wounded in the ensuing military service on the Eastern Front that he was no longer able to practice his profession after his return to Vorarlberg in 1945. As a result, he became a businessman and partner in a wholesale company. In the post-war period, Müller was also intensively involved in the Vorarlberg War Victims Association and became its chairman.

In 1964, Martin Müller was elected as a member of the Vorarlberg regional government for the People's Party. There he was responsible for road construction, economic and spatial planning. After the resignation of regional governor Gerold Ratz on September 12, 1973 due to health problems , Müller became his successor as regional governor's deputy. He held this office until the next state election in 1974 , after which he resigned from the state government. His successor in the newly elected state government Keßler III was Rudolf Mandl . In recognition of his achievements, he was awarded the Golden Decoration of Honor of the State of Vorarlberg in 1975 and the title of Commercial Councilor in 1975 . Martin Müller died on June 13, 1989 at the age of 74.
