Martina Hrašnová , b. Danišová (born March 21, 1983 in Bratislava , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak hammer thrower who took third place at the 2009 World Championships.
Athletic career
Martina Danišová won silver at the Junior European Championships in 2001 behind the Croatian Ivana Brkljačić , a year later the Croatian won again at the Junior World Championships before the Slovakian. In 2003 Danišová won the Slovak Indoor Championships in the shot put . She was caught doping in the 2003 outdoor season and was banned for two years. In 2006 she exceeded the 70-meter mark with the hammer for the first time, but could not qualify for the finals at the 2006 European Championships or the 2007 World Championships .
After their marriage in 2007 Martina Hrašnová improved her personal best and the Slovak national record in Reims to 76.82 meters in July 2008. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 she reached a grand final for the first time since she was a junior and finished eighth with 71.00 meters. At the World Athletics Finals in Stuttgart in 2008, she threw the hammer at 71.40 meters and took second place behind Yipsi Moreno .
In May 2009, Hrašnová improved her personal best to 76.90 meters. At the World Championships in the same year she succeeded in the fifth attempt a throw of 74.79 meters, for which she received the bronze medal behind Anita Włodarczyk and Betty Heidler . She was the first Slovak woman to win a world championship medal after independence. In 2012 she won the silver medal behind Anita Włodarczyk at the European Championships in Helsinki . At the Olympic Games , which took place shortly afterwards in London, she did not reach the final. She won the silver medal at the 2014 European Championships in Zurich .
In 2015 she won the silver medal with Slovakia at the first ever European Games in Baku. At the World Championships in Beijing , she was eliminated in qualifying . In 2016 she finished seventh at the European Championships in Amsterdam with 70.62 m. At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , she was eliminated again in qualification.
