history

The place was first mentioned on March 11, 1345 as Haun in documents from Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian . At that time, the emperor ordered the executioner to be transferred from Rottenburg to Landshut . In the letter, the places were also mentioned that no longer belonged to the Rottenburg court but to the Landshut court, including Haun. The name goes back to Schlog, forest, area or general area . The name Martin was only added to the syllable Haun at a later date .

A second document reports on a letter of purchase dated November 9, 1386, in which a Wertinger von Haun appears as a purchase witness. In the 13th century and later, the episcopal lending deeds of hereditary estates on the Hauner Scheid were also written.

From 1510 to 1782 Martinshaun was a noble seat . The owners called themselves the nobles von Ginsheim auf Schwindach and Martinshaun. There is a tombstone from this period in the church in Martinshaun. 1579 is shown on the country board (map) of Philipp Apian Martinshaun with his church. The villages of Hirnkofen, Kienoden, Leonhardshaun , Oberunsbach, Osterhaun, Reicherstetten and Unterunsbach were assigned to the Martinshaun community in 1818 as part of a community formation . Around 1898 the municipality of Martinshaun comprised an area of around 1250 hectares as well as 67 residential buildings and 432 residents. Mayor was Thomas Eittenberger. In the registry office, the community of Martinshaun belonged to Essenbach . In 1949 the southern part of the community with the places Hirnkofen, Unterunsbach and Oberunsbach and an area of 515 hectares was separated from Martinshaun and incorporated into the neighboring community of Essenbach.

As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , the municipality of Martinshaun was incorporated into the market town of Ergoldsbach on January 1, 1978, together with its former districts of Kienoden, Leonhardshaun, Osterhaun and Reicherstetten.
