Matt Kassian (born October 28, 1986 in Edmonton , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey player . He was under contract with the Ottawa Senators in the National Hockey League until the end of the 2013-14 season . Since then he has been considered a free agent .

Career

Kassian was committed to the NHL Entry Draft 2005 in the 2nd round in 57th place by the Minnesota Wild . After playing for various teams in the American Hockey League , the ECHL and the Western Hockey League , he finally made his debut for the team in November 2010. The entire season he was in four games on the field, but relatively unsuccessful. He was then transferred back to the Houston Eros , only to be recruited by the Wild a month later. This season he completed 24 games for the team, in which he was able to achieve his first two goals in the NHL, both in the same game against the Canadiens de Montréal . He spent the next two seasons again with the Houston Eros. In March 2013, he was given a sixth-round draft pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft to the Ottawa Senators . He left this at the end of the season as a free agent .
