Maximilian von Bornstedt

Maximilian von Bornstedt (born August 6, 1709 in Lochow, in the Crossen district , † August 11, 1759 in Groß Glogau ) was a Prussian major and knight of the order Pour le Mérite .

Life

family

Maximilian was a member of the Neumark noble family von Bornstedt . He was a son of the Prussian cornet and heir to Ostro and Lochow Friedrich Wilhelm von Bornstedt. Maximilian married in 1748 with Friederike Christiane (von) Drachstädt, daughter of the government council in Magdeburg Friedrich Gottlieb Drachstädt (1695–1732). The marriage resulted in four sons and two daughters.

Career

Bornstedt became a cadet on June 16, 1724 and joined the "Alt-Anhalt" regiment on October 6, 1726 , where he became an ensign on June 30, 1731 . He advanced on May 13, 1735 to second lieutenant and on 7 August 1740 to first lieutenant . On February 12, 1744, he received a grenadier company in the “Röder” regiment , but switched back to his old regiment in exchange with Captain Heinrich Sigismund von der Heyde . As a captain in the grenadier battalion "Kleist" he received the order Pour le Mérite in October 1756. In 1757, meanwhile promoted to major, he received a grenadier battalion, this was composed of two companies each of the regiment "Prince Friedrich Wilhelm" and the regiment "Wylich" . On November 10, 1757 Bornstedt received another grenadier battalion, which was also composed of two companies each, but the regiments "Itzenplitz" and "Meyering".

Bornstedt had distinguished himself in all the Silesian Wars . He took part in the battles of Mollwitz , Hohenfriedberg , Soor , Lowositz (wounded), Roßbach and Hochkirch . Before Kay , he was shot in the loin and died a few days later.
