Meigl Hoffmann

Mike "Meigl" Hoffmann (born June 18, 1968 in Leipzig ) is a German cabaret artist , singer , entertainer , author and restaurateur .

Life

Hoffmann was born the son of athlete Wilfriede Hoffmann and grew up near the Leipzig Rosental . After attending the Leibniz School in Schkeuditz in 1985, he completed vocational training as a machine and system fitter . During this time he founded the apprentice cabaret Mutanfall in 1986 , the title was chosen based on the Leipzig punk band Wutanfall . After his apprenticeship in 1987 he set a exit visa , which, however, only in the turnaround time was granted 1989th He moved to Frankfurt am Main on October 5th , where his mother lived and where he worked briefly in the local jazz bar Mampf . There he also got to know Matthias Beltz and the Frankfurt Fronttheater , whom he has since counted among his role models alongside Otto Reutter . After the fall of the wall , he returned to Leipzig, where he initially worked as a painter . From August 1990 onwards, Hoffmann ran the Goldenes Herz pub in Gohlis in Leipzig for almost a year and expanded it into a cabaret . He then worked as an ABM in the Werk 2 cultural center .

In 1992 he founded the Gohglmohsch cabaret , the venue was initially the König-Albert-Haus , and towards the end of its existence the Kosmos-Haus in Gottschedstrasse . The cabaret broke up in 1999, after which Hoffmann had guest appearances for several years at the academixers , at the Schauspiel Leipzig under Wolfgang Engel and in variety shows. In 2007/2008 he brought Gohglmohsch back to life before founding the Leipzig Central Cabaret in 2009, which still exists today . Since then, the König-Albert-Haus on Markt 9 has been a permanent venue with a restaurant .

In 2016, together with the pianist and composer Karsten Wolf, with whom he works in Leipzig's Central Cabaret , he acquired the traditional Zwickau restaurant Waldschänke , where he and Wolf repeatedly performed and performed. Together with others, he is committed to maintaining the so-called Capa House . Hoffmann has been a guest at the Leipziger Pfeffermühle cabaret since 2018 with his own programs , and he also performs nationally.

Meigl Hoffmann is married, lives and works in Leipzig.
