Melejdy (German Mehleden ) is a place in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It belongs to the urban and rural community of Sępopol (Schippenbeil) in the powiat Bartoszycki ( Bartenstein district ).
Geographical location
Melejdy is located immediately south of the state border between Poland and Russia, northeast of Sępopol , and can be reached on a side road via Miedna ( Honigbaum ) , Dzietrzychowo (Dietrichsdorf) and Gaj (Grünhof) .
history
As in 1874, the newly built office district Schakenhof (Russian Today: consolation Niki) was formed, flour Eden was incorporated and belonged until 1945 to this district within the county Gerdauen in the administrative district of Konigsberg the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1910 56 people lived here.
On September 30, 1928, the Mehleden manor district gave up its independence and was incorporated into the rural community of Rädtkeim (the place no longer exists due to its location on the Russian side directly in the Polish-Russian border area).
In 1945 Mehleden came to Poland and was renamed "Melejdy". Today it belongs to the Schulzenamt Lipica (Lindenau) within the Gmina Sępopol (urban and rural municipality Schippenbeil ) and is located in the powiat Bartoszycki in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship (1975-1998 Olsztyn Voivodeship ).
Religions
With its mostly Protestant population, Mehleden was parish before 1945 in the parish of the parish village of Friedenberg (Russian: Dworkino), which is now on Russian territory . It belonged to the church district Gerdauen (Russian: Schelesnodoroschny) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union .
Today a predominantly Catholic population lives in Melejdy. The parish is now Lipica in the deanery Sępopol (Schippenbeil) in the diocese of Warmia of the Catholic Church in Poland . Protestant church members living here now belong to the church in Bartoszyce (Bartenstein) , a branch church of the parish in Kętrzyn ( Rastenburg) within the Masuria diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .
