history

As in 1874, the newly built office district Schakenhof (Russian Today: consolation Niki) was formed, flour Eden was incorporated and belonged until 1945 to this district within the county Gerdauen in the administrative district of Konigsberg the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1910 56 people lived here.

On September 30, 1928, the Mehleden manor district gave up its independence and was incorporated into the rural community of Rädtkeim (the place no longer exists due to its location on the Russian side directly in the Polish-Russian border area).

In 1945 Mehleden came to Poland and was renamed "Melejdy". Today it belongs to the Schulzenamt Lipica (Lindenau) within the Gmina Sępopol (urban and rural municipality Schippenbeil ) and is located in the powiat Bartoszycki in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship (1975-1998 Olsztyn Voivodeship ).

Religions

With its mostly Protestant population, Mehleden was parish before 1945 in the parish of the parish village of Friedenberg (Russian: Dworkino), which is now on Russian territory . It belonged to the church district Gerdauen (Russian: Schelesnodoroschny) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union .

Today a predominantly Catholic population lives in Melejdy. The parish is now Lipica in the deanery Sępopol (Schippenbeil) in the diocese of Warmia of the Catholic Church in Poland .
