The Metropoltheater is a free theater in Munich-Freimann , which started operating in October 1998. The founder and director of the theater is Jochen Schölch .

The theater is known for its poetic and visually strong productions, whereby the content-related discussion of socio-politically relevant topics determines the selection of the pieces shown. Since the theater attaches importance to bringing plays that have not yet been shown in Munich on stage, world premieres and Munich premieres are not uncommon. Venues

The theater is housed in the former Freimann old cinema, whose 1950s aesthetic has been preserved true to the original, and a glass porch by H.-Werner Lederer-Piloty. The theater hall itself can accommodate up to 160 spectators with its eight rows of seats.

In 2010 and 2011, the theater alternated with the Munich comedy theater, in addition to the theater in Freimann, for a few weeks a year at the Oblomow city theater in the Glockenbachviertel .
