Ich Troje (also Troje in German-speaking countries ) is a Polish pop band.
Band history
The band was founded in 1995 by Jacek Łągwa , Michał Wiśniewski and Magda Femme in Łódź . Bandleader Wiśniewski had the idea of making pop music and organized karaoke evenings in a disco in Łódź with Jacek Łągwa, who began to write Polish pop songs after the success of the evenings. They were convinced that their songs could be successful, but they also needed a female voice, which they found in Magda Femme. They recorded the first records in this line-up in 1996 and 1997. The success came only after Magda Femme left in 2000. She was replaced by the more experienced singer Justyna Majkowska . With this line-up, “Ich Troje” was preparing to become the most successful pop formation in Poland .
Since Michał Wiśniewski spent his childhood in Germany, he speaks excellent German, which gave him the idea in 2003 to write a song in several languages. With the song No Limits - Żadnych Granic , “Ich Troje” competed in the Polish qualification for the Eurovision Song Contest . In the same year Michał Wiśniewski and Jacek Łągwa took part in the German qualifying with the German Elli Mücke in an FDJ (Free German Youth) shirt as a singer with the song “ Love is fun ” under the name “Troje” . In the event of a likely win in the Polish preliminary round, I Troje wanted to forego the German participation. The band achieved a good ranking in Germany, but they won the game in Poland. The original No Limits - Zadnych Granic, with whom she competed for Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 , was trilingual and was sung with Justyna Majkowska. For Germany there was also a version only in German, where Elli Mücke replaced Justyna Majkowska. There were also two video clips; however, the German version was only broadcast a few times in the media and disappeared back into the archives almost unsent. "Troje" released a single and an album in Germany and also had an appearance at the NDR's current showroom , but shortly afterwards it was quiet again about the German project and there was no further collaboration with Elli Mücke for the time being. She was originally supposed to step in for Majkowska, who left the band, as a singer, but the language barriers were too great. Ich Troje made all the appearances in 2003 partly known in Germany and a small German fan base developed. In 2005 Michał Wiśniewski planned to take part in the Austrian preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest; However, nothing came of the plans.
In 2003, shortly after participating in the Eurovision Song Contest, Justyna Majkowska left the band and was replaced by Anna Świątczak . In 2004 the group separated. The band members then tried their hand at solo projects.
After a concert at the Sopot Festival in 2005, the members of Ich Troje got together again and then started a tour. In the run-up to the Polish parliamentary elections in 2005, I Troje played the party anthem for the radical farmers' party Samoobrona and presented it at a party congress.
On January 29, 2006 I Troje competed with the song Follow My Heart in the Polish qualification for the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 . The former singers of the band Magda Femme and Justyna Majkowska as well as the German rapper Real McCoy were also part of this song. With Follow My Heart I Troje presented a completely new style of music than before. I Troje took first place again and represented Poland for the second time at the Eurovision Song Contest. The song was originally supposed to be sung in six languages at the semifinals of the ESC 2006 , but was ultimately only performed in four languages. I Troje was in eleventh place in the semifinals and was not among the top ten participants, so I just missed out on the finals.
In 2006 there was another collaboration with Elli Mücke. On May 5, 2006, I Troje and Mücke gave a concert at the Quatsch Comedy Club in Berlin in the run-up to this year's Eurovision Song Contest .
At the beginning of 2007 Ich Troje started their second USA tour for Polish emigrants with a total of thirty concerts in cities such as New York, Clearwater, New Jersey, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas with their current album Siedem grzechów Głównych .
In December 2008 the band released their eighth album, Ósmy obcy pasażer .
