Michael Engler the Younger (born September 6, 1688 in Breslau , Principality of Breslau ; † January 15, 1760 ibid) was the most famous representative of a family of organ builders from Breslau.

Life

His father, the Wroclaw organ and instrument maker Michael Engler the Elder (circa 1650-circa 1720), was the son of a Neusiedl councilman and city carpenter. Michael Engler d. J. acquired the city charter of Breslau in 1723. His son Gottlieb Benjamin (1734–1793) and his grandson Johann Gottlieb Benjamin (1775–1829) also worked as organ builders in Breslau.

Organs (selection)

Michael Engler d. J. built around 40 organs, four of them with three manuals . Organs have been preserved in Olomouc (Olmütz) in Moravia, Krzeszów ( Grüssau ), Pasikurowice (Paschkerwitz) in Lower Silesia and Kije (previously Reichenstein) in Heiligkreuz, as well as an attributed one in Święciechowa (Schwetzkau), each in bold.
