Michael McCarron (born March 7, 1995 in Macomb , Michigan ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League since January 2020 and at the same time for their farm team , the Milwaukee Admirals , in American Hockey League is used. Before that, the right winger spent over six years in the Canadiens de Montréal organization .
Career
Mike McCarron played as a 14-year-old for the Honeybaked U16 team in Michigan , where he scored 12 goals and 16 assists in 28 games and received 44 penalty minutes. In the 2010/11 season he played 38 games for the Honeybaked U18 team. He scored six games and 12 assists with a total of 88 penalty minutes. At the end of the season he was selected in the OHL Priority Selection by the Belleville Bulls in 107th place.
In the 2011/12 season, Michael McCarron was inducted into the USA Hockey National Team Development Program . In 53 games he scored six goals and 21 assists (a total of 128 penalty minutes). At the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2012 he scored a goal and an assist in five games. At the end of the season he was selected in the USHL Entry Draft by the Lincoln Stars in 74th position. In addition, the London Knights acquired its OHL rights from the Belleville Bulls .
McCarron played another season for the NTDP, where he scored 14 goals in 55 games and prepared 20 more (plus 6 balance). He was sent to the penalty box for a total of 180 minutes. He also played at the 2013 U18 Junior Ice Hockey World Championship . In seven games he scored three goals and scored two assists with 14 penalty minutes.
During the 2014/15 season, McCarron moved from the London Knights to the Oshawa Generals and won the J. Ross Robertson Cup and the Memorial Cup with them at the end of the season , with the latter being elected to the tournament's All-Star Team. At the beginning of the season he moved to the organization of the Canadiens de Montréal , which had selected him in the NHL Entry Draft 2013 in 25th position. As expected, he started with the farm team , the St. John's IceCaps in the American Hockey League , but made his debut with the Canadiens in the National Hockey League in December 2015 , where he made 20 appearances by the end of the season.
After almost six and a half years in the organization of the Canadiens, McCarron was handed over to the Nashville Predators in January 2020 in exchange for Laurent Dauphin .
