Laurent Dauphin (born March 27, 1995 in Repentigny , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Canadiens de Montréal from the National Hockey League since January 2020 and for their farm team , the Rocket de Laval , in American Hockey League plays on the position of the center .
Career
Dauphin played between 2010 and 2012 in the lower class junior leagues of the province of Québec for the Collège Esther-Blondin Phénix, before he ran for the Saguenéens de Chicoutimi in the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec from the 2012/13 season. During the three years with the Saguenéens, the striker collected 198 points in 181 games and was selected during this time in the second round of the NHL Entry Draft 2013 in 39th place by the Phoenix Coyotes from the National Hockey League , which finally - meanwhile in Arizona Coyotes renamed - signed in October 2014.
After the end of the LHJMQ season 2014/15 , Dauphin then switched to the professional camp and from April 2015 he joined Arizona's farm team , the Portland Pirates from the American Hockey League , for the rest of the game year . The following season he then spent to a large extent with the Springfield Falcons in the AHL, who were in cooperation with the Coyotes in this game year. In the course of the 2015/16 season , the striker also made his NHL debut and was used in eight games.
In June 2017, the Coyotes and Connor Murphy handed him over to the Chicago Blackhawks and received Niklas Hjalmarsson in return . After just under six months, he returned to Arizona with Richard Pánik , while Anthony Duclair and Adam Clendening moved to Chicago. Even with his second engagement with the Coyotes, the attacker failed to establish himself in the NHL, so that he and Adam Helewka were transferred to the Nashville Predators in February 2019 . In return, the Coyotes received Emil Pettersson . In the organization of the Predators, Dauphin was used exclusively with the Milwaukee Admirals in the AHL, before he was given to the Canadiens de Montréal in January 2020 in exchange for Michael McCarron .
International
At the international level played Dauphin in the World U-17 Hockey Challenge 2012 for the province of Quebec , which ended with a sixth place, and in the Under-18 World Youth Championship in 2013 in Russia's Sochi . The striker scored six points in seven tournament games and won the gold medal with the team at the end of the tournament.
