Michael Stewart (politician)
Robert Maitland Michael Stewart, Baron Stewart of Fulham (born November 6, 1906 in Bromley, London , † March 13, 1990 in London ) was a British politician ( Labor ).
Career
Michael Stewart was MP in the House of Commons for Fulham East from 1945 to 1955 and for Fulham from 1955 to 1979 . In 1964 Stewart became Minister of Education and was, with a short break in 1965 (when he headed the Foreign Office for a few months), until 1968. He then became Foreign Secretary again and remained so until 1970. In July 1979 he was appointed Baron Stewart of Fulham , of Fulham in Greater London, was raised to the life peer and was henceforth a member of the House of Lords .
