Michael Brennan (born January 24, 1986 in Smithtown , Long Island , New York ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with Vaasan Sport in the Finnish Liiga since September 2014 .

Career

Mike Brennan started his career in 2002 and played for the USA Hockey National Team Development Program in the North American Hockey League until 2004 . In the 2004/05 season he began studying at Boston College and played for the local ice hockey team. In his first year he won the Hockey East Championship with his team and was elected to the All-Academic Team. The next year, the team reached in the Frozen Four tournament the final of the championship of the National Collegiate Athletic Association , where the University of Wisconsin-Madison was defeated. In the 2006/07 season you stood as a master of Hockey East again in the final and this time lost to Michigan State University . In the third finals in a row, the team was able to win the 2007/08 US college championship against the University of Notre Dame . Prior to that, Brennan won the Hockey East Championship again with Boston College and was elected to the All-Academic Team for the third time.

In April 2008, Brennan signed his first professional contract with the Chicago Blackhawks from the National Hockey League . They sent him to the Rockford IceHogs farm team from the American Hockey League . There he played the seasons 2008/09 and 2009/10 and established himself as a defensive-oriented defender in the AHL. In September 2010 Brennan took part in the training camp of the Toronto Maple Leafs and played the season in their farm team Toronto Marlies . For the 2011/12 season he signed with the Colorado Avalanche , which sent him to the AHL to the Lake Erie Monsters . The next year he moved to the ECHL for the Florida Everblades . After nine games he returned to the AHL and played the rest of the season for the Worcester Sharks .

For the 2013/14 season Brennan signed a contract with the Iserlohn Roosters from the German Ice Hockey League . In September 2014, the American was signed by the Finnish first division club Vaasan Sport as part of a trial contract ( try-out ) and, after performing well in November 2014, received a permanent contract for the 2014/15 season .
