Milko Georgiev Bobozow ( Bulgarian Милко Георгиев Бобоцов , also in English transcription Bobotsov ; born October 30, 1931 in Plovdiv ; † April 3, 2000 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian chess grandmaster .

Milko Bobozow won the Bulgarian championship in 1958, in 1960 he became international champion , in 1961 Bulgaria's first grandmaster . He played from 1954 to 1972 at eight Chess Olympiads for the Bulgarian team, won a bronze medal with her in 1968 and received a bronze medal in the individual ranking of the third board in 1964 . He also took part in the 1970 European Team Championship with Bulgaria .

However, in 1972 he suffered a stroke from which he never fully recovered. He was married to the women's grandmaster Antonia Iwanowa .

Curiosity

In the Hoogovens tournament in 1966, Bobozow set a record in his game against Borislav Ivkov when he only castled with White on move 46 (the game ended in a draw). This record was only surpassed in 1994.
