Lyuben Spasov

Lyuben Dimitrov Spassow ( Bulgarian Любен Спасов , born March 22, 1943 in Sofia ) is a Bulgarian grandmaster in chess .

Life

Spassov received the title of International Master in 1972 and the title of Grand Master in 1976. He won a tournament in Pamporowna in 1981 and came second in 1983 in Warsaw. In October 2005 he won the Senior World Championship in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy . He won this tournament unbeaten with 8.5 points from eleven games.

His Elo number is 2301 (as of December 2014), his best Elo number of 2490 he reached in January 1976.

National team

With the Bulgarian national team Spassow took part in the 1974 , 1978 and 1980 chess Olympiads and the European team championships in 1977, 1980 and 1983.

societies

Lyuben Spassow played for Slavia Sofia and with this five times in the European Club Cup . The greatest success was reaching the semi-finals in 1982.
