Nino Kirov ( Bulgarian Нино Киров Иванов ; born September 11, 1945 in Blagoevgrad , † September 25, 2008 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian chess player .
The Bulgarian Individual Championship Kirov won twice: in 1973 in Sofia and 1978 in Varna . Between 1971 and 1985 he took part in fourteen individual championships. He played for Bulgaria at two Chess Olympiads : 1974 and 1984 . He also took part twice in the European team championships (1977 and 1980) and in several chess Balkaniads (1974 to 1977, 1979 to 1981 and 1984 to 1985).
In October 1974 he ended a series of Tal in which he had 95 unbeaten games in a row by beating Michail Tal .
In 1972 Kirov was awarded the title of International Master (IM), in 1975 the title of Grand Master (GM). His highest rating was 2505 in January 1993.
