Petar Velikov

Petar Velikov ( Bulgarian Петър Василев Великов , at the World Chess Federation FIDE Petar Velikov ; born March 30, 1951 in Dobrich ) is a Bulgarian chess player .

At the first official U20 European Championship in 1971/72 in Groningen , he finished third. He was able to win the Bulgarian individual championship in 1987 in Elenite . He played for Bulgaria at four Chess Olympiads : 1982 to 1986 and 1990 . He also took part four times in the European team championships (1977 to 1989) and in several chess balkaniads (1979, 1981 to 1984, 1986 and 1990).

In France he played for the Club de Migne Echecs .

In 1975 he was awarded the title of International Master (IM) and in 1982 the title of Grand Master (GM). His highest rating was 2500 in July 1998.
