Nikola Botschew Padewski ( Bulgarian Никола Пъдевски, born May 29, 1933 in Plovdiv ) is a Bulgarian chess master .

Life

Padewski received the title of International Master from FIDE in 1957 and the title of Grand Master in 1964 . He won the Bulgarian Championship in 1954, 1955, 1962 and 1964. From 1956 to 1978 he also took part in all 11 Chess Olympiads for Bulgaria in which Bulgaria took part (the 1976 Chess Olympiad was boycotted by the Warsaw Pact states ). At the 1968 Chess Olympiad in Lugano reached third place with the Bulgarian team. In 1970 and 1977 he took part in the European team championships with Bulgaria , and in 1970 he achieved the second-best individual result on the third board in Kapfenberg .

Padewski is listed as inactive at FIDE because he has not played a rated game since 1995. Its highest historical rating prior to the introduction of the rating was 2599 in January 1967.
