Milko Popchev ( Bulgarian Милко Попчев , with the World Chess Federation FIDE Milko Popchev; born November 11, 1964 ) is a Bulgarian chess player .

Life

For the Bulgarian national team he played at the chess Olympiads in Manila in 1992 and in Elista in 1998 on the second reserve board with a total of 9.5 points from 14 games (+6 = 7 −1). He won the Balkaniade in Ankara in 1993 with the Bulgarian national team and also received an individual gold medal for his result of 3.5 points from 4 games on the sixth board.

He won several tournaments in France (for example the Open in Saint-Affrique in 2001 and the Open in Saint-Chély-d'Aubrac in 2003 ), Slovakia (for example the Open in Brezová pod Bradlom in 2009 ) and the Czech Republic (for example in 2005 the Open in Marienbad and in 2009 the Open in Karviná and the 5th FIDE Open in Tábor ).

He plays club chess in Bosnia (2003 for ŠK Bihać ), Bulgaria (for example until 2006 for Lokomotive Plovdiv and from 2009 for Lokomotive Sofia ), Macedonia (for BM Kisela Voda Skopje ) and Serbia (2nd division).

He has held the title of International Master since 1987 and the title of Grand Master since 1998 .
