history
The natural border of the Kristeinbach has always been of historical importance. It used to mark the boundaries of the Archdiocese of Salzburg and the Diocese of Brixen . The western part was incorporated into Assling in 1967, the Anraser part initially belonged to Ried . The two independent localities have existed since 2001.
Infrastructure and sights
Since 1965 there has been a primary school with around 20 students in the Anraser part. There is also a kindergarten with around 10 children.
Churches
The former parish church of St. John the Baptist and the new parish church of St. Maria Immaculate Conception are located in the Asslinger district .
The Johanneskapelle was built by Hans Kempter the Elder, who lived from 1545 to 1633. He wanted to celebrate a mass in Mittewald and asked the prince-bishop of Brixen to be allowed to build a house of worship. Construction began in 1602, and the chapel was consecrated a year later.
With the increasing population, the chapel was no longer sufficient for mass celebrations. For this reason, the construction of the new parish church began in 1958. In 1965 Mittewald became an independent parish vicariate and thus churchly separated from Assling.
