She also worked as a model .

biography

In 2007, at the age of eight, Kikuchi took part in the Ciao Girl Audition and won first prize among more than 10,000 participants. She was then signed by the Amuse talent agency . As the so-called "Ciao Girl" she was the exclusive model for the manga magazine Ciao from the Shogakukan publishing house . She was in several commercials for Ciao products and also for the Happy Meal from McDonald's to see.

Kikuchi joined the Amuse-led pop idol group Sakura Gakuin in August 2010 . This addresses everyday school life and is composed of several subgroups that are based on various leisure activities organized by schools. One of these subgroups was the Jūon-bu ( 重音 部 ), the "club for hard music" (consisting of Kikuchi, Yui Mizuno and Suzuka Nakamoto ), whose appearances took place under the name Babymetal . She also belonged to two other subgroups, Twinklestars and Mini-pati . Together with Mizuno, she appeared in several episodes of TV Kanagawa's children's show Saku saku from 2011 to 2013 , as well as in commercials for W-LAN services from Nippon Telegraph and Telephone in 2012 . The management of Amuse decided in 2013 to continue Babymetal as an independent project because of its unexpectedly great success. Kikuchi also remained a member of Sakura Gakuin for two years. From April 2014 until she left in March 2015, she was the leader of the group as the so-called “student representative”.

Within Babymetal, Kikuchi and Mizuno form the subgroup "Black Babymetal", who sings in a duet when Nakamoto is not on stage. Kikuchi is co-writer of song 4 ( 4 の 歌 , Yon no uta ) on the debut album Babymetal ; the song is about the widespread superstition in Asia about the number 4. In rare cases, she also appears at concerts with an electric guitar - for example at the Alternative Press Music Awards 2016 , when Babymetal and Rob Halford played the song Breaking the Law by Judas Priest played.
